Operational Procedures for Late Night Operations GTAA

As outlined in an earlier bulletin – CBAA Ops Bulletin 09-23, the CBAA and the GTAA have reached an agreement in principle to restore some access for CYYZ-based business aircraft at Toronto Pearson Airport during the late night hours of operation. The following information pertains to the operational procedures on how to register for slots with the GTAA.

Stated in an advisory issued by the GTAA, “A limited number of slots will be processed for Toronto based flight operations during the night flight restrictions (00:30 – 06:30): they are being implemented effective immediately. The Toronto based night flight budget pool (GA night pool) has been created to facilitate requests for both pre-approved slots and “day of” extensions.” From November 2009 to March 2010, the GA night pool will contain 175 slots (equal to approximately 35 per month).

The advisory can be viewed here. Please be advised that the CBAA encourages its members to adhere to the Night Flight Restrictions to the best of their ability as slots are limited. The request form should be submitted directly to the Facility Allocation Officer prior to 24 hours of the anticipated operating time and no more than 30 days in advance by e-mail at yyzslots@gtaa.com. The form can be retrieved here.  Operators should also register their YYZ registered aircraft to the Facility Allocation Officer (yyzslots@gtaa.com).

“Day of” extensions will be submitted to the RMU. While priority is given to Toronto based operators, the RMU will consider all requests submitted. The CBAA encourages its members to respect the GTAA Winter Night Flight restrictions to the best of their ability.

The CBAA would like to thank the GTAA for working with us to help our membership; especially our Toronto operators and we are continuing our positive dialogue and discussions with the GTAA to improve late night access to YYZ even more in the future.
