Signature Flight Support Luton In Final Stage Of Redevelopment

Signature Flight Support’s investment of £26m at London Luton Airport (EGGW) is in the last phase of redevelopment and is expected to be fully operational in the third quarter of 2016.
The new facilities include, a 4,500 sqm hangar capable of housing two Boeing Business Jets (BBJ) or Airbus Corporate Jets (ACJ) sized aircraft which was operational in April 2014.
A 7,000 sqm parking stand went into operation on April 1, 2015. This is a welcomed addition to Signature’s existing apron at LTN and ensures that operational capacity is maintained throughout the demolition and construction phase of Signature’s new FBO without inconvenience to customers. A dedicated ground service equipment facility with its own pit also forms an integral part of this stand.
The last phase, now underway, is the construction of an exquisite, 1,572 sqm passenger and FBO facility. The new world-class FBO will boast the latest in technologies for entertainment, communications, passenger and crew amenities and onward travel solutions.
The covered arrivals area will shield passengers from inclement weather. Private, state-of-the art conference, waiting and catering facilities including a full service bar, will enable passengers and crew to work or relax at the new facility with an expansive view of the airport ramp.
Access to the aircraft ramp for VIP passengers will be facilitated via a dedicated and secured gate for customer vehicles. Security systems and screening areas will feature the latest in technology and customer convenience to expedite screening. The overall design of the facility minimizes transit time in all areas of the FBO for the convenience of passengers and crew.

Luton is one of Signature’s most important locations outside of North America. Signature Luton has its roots at the airfield from 1947 when it was known as McAlpine Aviation. Signature Flight Support purchased the company in 2000. London Luton Airport is the main gateway for Business and General Aviation travel into London and is the busiest B&GA Airport in the UK and the third in Europe, handling approximately 14,000 flights annually.
