ACK on Tour: Vail Valley Jet Center

The warm welcome of a fireplace, melody of a piano and incredible Colorado scenery are the first impressions  to us that Vail Valley Jet Center, located at Eagle County Regional Airport (KEGE) in the heart of the Colorado Rockies, is a well-oiled machine when it comes to taking care of its clients.

Nestled in a valley amongst mountain ridges, Vail Valley Jet Center developed winter policies and added infrastructure to serve business and light jets during the height of ski season and all year round.  New procedures, online reservations and collaboration with the air traffic control tower staff have allowed the FBO to operate more efficiently and serve more aircraft on its ramp.  Proving its efficiency, on Jan. 2, the FBO had a hand in 309 operations, customer relations manager Allissa Hollis says.  Although it was not a record, more than 300 aircraft for a one-runway airport is a high level of throughput – keeping their two de-icing and tow teams busy.

Vail Valley Jet Center has developed an electronic ramp system to allow the entire company access to aircraft information (eRamp) allowing any staff member to answer questions in a timely manner.

The Vail Valley Jet Center has also expanded to the north side of the field by acquiring an additional hangar to serve light GA aircraft.  The FBO now has a total of eight heated shared hangars.

The FBO recently introduced maintenance manager Greg Lucas to the team.  With 20 years of experience, Lucas is dedicated to bringing light GA maintenance to the forefront of the Vail Valley Jet Center operations.  Lucas will fly in anything he works on, holds A&P and IA certificates, and is prepared to handle all client needs, Hollis says.
