Flight Display Systems is Now FDS Avionics Corp.

Flight Display Systems announced that the company is changing its name to FDS Avionics Corp. The new name better describes the broad portfolio of products and services in in-flight entertainment, cabin management, and special mission video systems. FDS Avionics develops innovative technology to deliver personalized and interactive experiences to the aviation industry.

In November 2014 Flight Display Systems was acquired by Harbert Private Equity Fund III. The acquisition means continued growth, expanded engineering and production capabilities, and enhanced partner relationships. Since the acquisition, FDS has achieved significant milestones.

  • Developed a best-in-class wireless media platform, the do CAPSULE™. The central component of the do EXPERIENCE, the do CAPSULE streams entertainment and information to tablets, smart phones, and laptops. It includes a high-resolution moving map.
  • Introduced an entertainment subscription plan, known as do360™, which includes movies, TV shows, music, books, magazines, and games.
  • Developed a richly detailed interactive 3D moving map, called do3D™.
  • Engineered and released a new 21.5" high-definition multiport LCD display for military and special mission deployment.

"Future growth requires an innovative approach and a different way of operating. Our strategy is focused on enhancing the passenger experience and driving value for our partners," said Dave Dodson, Marketing Director.
