Business Aviation Safety Expert Robert Breiling Dies

Business aviation safety analyst Robert Breiling died on Jan. 26 at age 88.

Through his firm Robert E. Breiling Associates Inc., Breiling provided reviews of jet, turboprop and helicopter accident data on a quarterly and annual basis.

Breiling was an active duty U.S. Navy pilot for eight years. Including time in the Navy Reserves, he served a total of 24 years before his retirement from the military.

Early in his professional career, Breiling worked in the insurance industry and began collecting business aviation safety data with the advent of business jets in the 1960s.

The International Business Aviation Council acquired Breiling’s company in 2015 to sustain Breiling’s work analyzing business aviation risks and increasing safety.

BCA will publish a Flight Log written by Breiling in its March 2018 issue.
