TEB Flight Crew Briefing Updated; Association Now Developing Module for EWR

In June 2008, the National Air Transportation Association's (NATA) Safety 1st program launched a customized online training tool that provided pilots and other flight crew members flying into and out of Teterboro Airport access to critical safety information about the airport, including its location, layout, operations, regulations and safety and security procedures.

With unusual clarity and effectiveness due to its extensive use of interactive graphics, the Safety 1st briefing presents pilots with views of runway incursion hot spots, scenarios for common pilot errors, aircraft lighting configurations, take-off procedures and other information that is critical to safe aircraft operations.

Since the launch of the training, more than 250,000 "hits" have been recorded and, on average, 456 visitors per day have viewed the safety information provided. 

"The Teterboro Airport Flight Crew Briefing continues to be an invaluable educational tool for the pilot community and operators using this critically important general aviation airport," said NATA President James K. Coyne.

In addition to providing the update to the Teterboro Airport module, the association is now in the midst of developing a similar module for Newark Liberty International Airport.

"The popularity of these modules continues to increase within our industry," Coyne said. "We continue to receive inquiries from airport officials and our membership wishing to learn more about how a flight crew briefing can be developed for their local airport."
