Fargo Jet Center Delivers 8th Special Mission King Air in 2011

Fargo Jet Center Inc. (FJC) delivers 8th special mission King Air in 2011. The eight completions are a combination of cloud seeding, atmospheric research and air medical transport system special mission aircraft.

“2011 has been a very busy year for our repair station,” said Darren Hall, FJC Vice President of Marketing. “Our special mission modifications have grown significantly over the past two decades by combining the special mission aircraft needs of our International clients, sister company Weather Modification, Inc and Fargo, N.D., based Spectrum Aeromed, Inc.”

The completions at Fargo Jet Center are equipped for multiple missions. The most recent, a King Air 200 equipped for clouding seeding and atmospheric research, is the 2nd aircraft delivered in 2011 to the Armed Forces in the Republic of Senegal. The equipment installed on the exterior of the aircraft includes latest technology cloud seeding equipment, window mounted air sampling inlets and wing mounted atmospheric research probes.

The inside cabin features cabinets containing electronic equipment to operate the specialized instruments, process the information collected and transmit it to ground in real time. The modifications are conducted under a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) process. The unique installations allow the aircraft to be converted from a restricted category special mission research aircraft to a normal category aircraft for personnel or air medical transport. Spectrum Aeromed wiring kits for air medical transport units were also installed on both aircraft.

“We have assembled a very talented team to deliver state-the-art, advanced research aircraft across the world,” says FJC president Jim Sweeney. “The depth of our services throughout the company enables us to provide our clients with turn-key services from acquisition through special mission modifications to ongoing training."
