NBAA Calls for Congressional Resolution on FAA Funding Extension Impasse
/National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) President and CEO Ed Bolen issued the following statement regarding the impasse surrounding congressional approval of a short-term funding extension to maintain all employees and operations at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), in lieu of a multi-year reauthorization.
"NBAA and the business aviation community urge congress to pass an extension of funding for the FAA. Although we have long said that a multi-year FAA reauthorization bill is the best way to ensure that the agency has the guidance needed for long-term initiatives including implementation of a Next Generation Air Traffic System, we also know that passage of a short-term extension of existing funding levels would put all FAA employees back to work on existing priorities, including airport maintenance and construction. We hope that congress will find a way to move toward a resolution of the impasse over the extension as quickly as possible."
