Ask AC-U-KWIK: Managers’ World Edition eBook App 2014-2015 Update
/Today we’ll check on the update to AC-U-KWIK’s Managers’ World Edition eBook app for the iPad:
When will the new edition of the Managers’ World Edition eBook app be available?
We’ve approved the new edition and it was submitted to Apple by our development team on October 10. They are reporting long wait times for Apple update approvals right now. So, they are expecting 11 days or more for approval.
I don’t need to download the app again, do I?
We envision a simple update for existing subscribers as they are entitled to a full 12 months of access. So for someone who subscribed in July, we expect them to get an update notification and perform that update at their convenience. At that time, they will have access to the new edition of the MWE. In July 2015, it will be renewal time.
It’s actually a bit of a challenge to emulate the update process in a test environment, though. There are some unknowns; however, rest assured that we will take care of our current customers.
Besides the updated data that will download, has anything else changed?
Search is vastly improved. You can now search cities or identifiers and get a quick result. Getting that lined out was the primary goal of this update. The 2014-2015 edition also includes the VOR section, so that’s a big plus for both the eBook and print book.
I remember you mentioned improving the search function in the previous Q&A when you introduced the app.
Yes, I can’t wait to get it out in the field. We’ve had this very attractive and functional eBook in our hands since last spring. Getting the search right and getting the new book loaded in … well, let’s just say it’s great to offer our users this very portable and lightweight edition of what is essentially a deeper version of our two most popular print products. For people that want to make the jump from print, the World Edition eBook is a great option.
Where can I see a demo?
Booth 3680 at the NBAA 2014 Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition! That is the best place to see the improved search in action. Also, watch this video demo on YouTube that features the original version in action.
