EAA AirVenture 2015: Avfuel Keeps Tradition Alive with B-17 Yankee Lady Sponsorship
/Avfuel Corporation once again proudly sponsors the Yankee Air Museum’s B-17 Yankee Lady aircraft at EAA AirVenture 2015. The B-17, also known as the “Flying Fortress,” was a popular WWII bomber aircraft primarily used in the destruction of enemy war facilities.
The Yankee Lady is one of only 10 B-17 airframes that remain flyable today. Normally housed at Willow Run Airport in Belleville, Mich., the Yankee Lady will be centrally located in Boeing Plaza for the week, easily viewable and accessible to all airshow visitors.
“Avfuel is delighted to help deliver this unique experience to fellow aviation enthusiasts,” said Marci Ammerman, Avfuel vice president marketing. “As a historical piece of military aviation, stationing the B-17 at AirVenture provides an opportunity to both educate the public and honor its legacy. Along with Avfuel representatives, museum volunteers will be available to answer questions from the public, who also have a chance to explore the aircraft.”
In addition to exploring the B-17, visitors to the Yankee Lady exhibit will be treated to Avfuel swag. Avfuel team members will be throwing special giveaways—including cooling towels, earbuds, hats, coozies and surprise AVTRIP points—from the wings of the B-17 prior to airshows and at other unannounced times.
“This incredible experience amplifies the contagious enthusiasm at AirVenture,” said Ammerman. “Along with its historical significance, the B-17 exemplifies the spirit of EAA’s event and America’s never-ending fascination with aviation.”
The Yankee Air Museum’s B-17, the Yankee Lady, will be on display in Boeing Plaza Monday, July 20 – Saturday, July 25 with Avfuel giveaways occurring prior to airshows and at other unannounced times.
