Ask AC-U-KWIK: Runway Change Updates

At our airport we recently had our single runway lengthened from 3,852 feet to 5,000 feet. In addition, it was widened from 50 feet to 75 feet. I made sure to notify AC-U-KWIK in our “Airport Manager Questionnaire” that is sent to me annually. But it hasn’t been changed yet on the AC-U-KWIK website. Why the delay?

Thanks for completing our online questionnaire concerning changes at your airport. It is vital that airport and FBO managers log-in and inform us of any airport updates, along with changes to service providers on the field.

Specifically, when it comes to changes in runway length, width and heading, we must adhere to the FAA 5010 report that is released every 56 days. This assures us that the runway work has, in fact, been completed and the FAA has begun to report these changes in all official and flight critical publications.

Sometimes, in an effort to make sure a runway improvement finds its way into our publication in a timely manner, the longer (or wider) dimensions have been reported to us prematurely by airport or FBO personnel. As we all know, projects can get cancelled or postponed. By sticking with the FAA 5010 report, we are sure we are providing our users with accurate and safe information regarding runway dimensions.
