Air Associates Cleaning up After Severe Storm

Air Associates of Kansas, an FBO, charter operator and flight school based at Johnson County Executive Airport (KOJC) in Olathe, Kan., continues to restore its facilities after 80-85 mph straight line winds on March 6 caused significant damage.

The storm blew HVAC units off the roof of the administration building and into a vacant area between hangars. Consequently, the roof was destroyed, and offices on the upper level experienced water damage, the company says in a release.

Air Associates’ west hangar lost much of its roof. T-hangars to the south of Air Associates operated by Johnson County were at least 75 percent destroyed.

Two Air Associates personnel were in the administration building during the storm and were not harmed.

Now, the administration building roof has been replaced, and new HVAC equipment is being installed. The business has remodeled the lobby and conference room. Work on the flight school facility is mostly finished.

Air Associates’ flight school, charter, maintenance and line services are “fully operational.”
