Jim Allmon is Appointed to the Aerospace and Aviation Advisory Committee

Blackhawk Aerospace President and CEO, Jim Allmon, has just been commissioned as a member of the State of Texas Governor’s Aerospace and Aviation Advisory Committee. The purpose of this committee is to assist Texas Gov. Greg Abbott in discerning a plan to attract and retain aviation businesses in the state. Blackhawk is proud to be based in Texas, which has one of the nation’s largest pools of aerospace industry workers with roughly 140,000 people and an extensive network of higher education institutions, producing nearly 10,000 aviation related degrees each year. In fact, 18 of the 20 largest aerospace manufacturers in the world have major operations in Texas. Growing aerospace supply chains have allowed Texas to rank #4 in the U.S. for total product and part exports. As the state continues to attract relocating and expanding companies, it becomes increasingly important to invest in the aerospace industry.

Allmon was nominated for this council by the Waco Chamber of Commerce and will serve as a council member for 5 years. He will meet with other members of the committee, as well as Gov. Abbott, in Austin, TX to discuss various state incentives and programs and how they will benefit the aerospace industry in Texas. This will in turn attract more business to Texas and therefore will create more jobs for the workforce.

"My ultimate goal while I am a part of this committee would be to remove aircraft sales tax on parts which will in turn attract more jobs," said Allmon. "At Blackhawk Aerospace, our engine upgrades are a high value item. Removing state sales tax would benefit Blackhawk and the large network of maintenance facilities in the state."
