Fargo Jet Center Promotes General Aviation with Unique Community Event

Fargo Jet Center Inc (FJC) along with the Hector International Airport Authority, hosted the 1st Annual Drive-In/Fly–In Outdoor Movie Night on October 1. The event was designed to provide exposure and generate interest in the local community for its airport and affiliated businesses.
“We were looking for a unique way to reach out to the community,” said Darren Hall, VP of Marketing - Fargo Jet Center. “For many in attendance, this was their first exposure to general aviation. A large percentage of the population never makes it out to the general aviation side of airports unless they have a reason. We have created that reason.”
Event Details:
Theme: 1st Annual Drive-In/Fly-In Outdoor Movie Night held on October 1, 2010
Location: North General Aviation ramp adjacent to Fargo Jet Center’s passenger facility
Movie: “Flyboys” (2006 American drama film set during World War I) Public Performance licensed copy was rented
Movie Screen: The hangar doors became a movie screen 60ft wide by 30ft tall. The screen was framed by WWII vintage aircraft including a P-51 Mustang, DC-3 (Duggy) and a PT-19.

Food: A concessionaire was hired to provide food and FJC staff served free popcorn and beverages to the approximately 280 attendees.
“People always love to come out to see airplanes and classic cars -- so we combined the two to give people a reason to visit our facilities,” said Mike Paulson, Manager of FJC’s Fargo Flight School.
Fargo Jet Center encourages other FBOs and airports to host similar events in the effort to reach out to communities to promote general aviation. For more details regarding the planning, coordination and execution of the event contact Darren Hall, VP Marketing, Fargo Jet Center.
