Deatra Symonette presented Certificate of Appreciation Award

Odyssey Aviation Bahamas, an operation offering fuel and VIP handling services to private jet travelers, is pleased to announce that Deatra Symonette, Location Manager of the new Odyssey Aviation ‘satellite’ location in Exuma, received The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism ‘Certificate of Appreciation Award’ presented by Vernice Walkine, Director General Ministry of Tourism and Aviation. The award recognizes the ‘Unselfish acts of kindness toward visitors of the Bahamas.’
Only a few months after Odyssey Aviation opened the new ‘satellite’ location at the Exuma International Airport, Symonette is already making an outstanding difference for her visitors. She is the consummate hostess, and it’s certainly not the first time she’s been recognized for delighting Odyssey’s guests. She’s received praise from many, such as Butch Stewart, the owner of Sandals Emerald Bay Resort, and impressing the whole Buttonville Flying Club so much that they wrote a letter to her saying, “The nine airplane invasion of Exuma might have been daunting for a lesser organization, but your attention to everything from cars and travel documents, to the individual needs of our members has never been equaled by any FBO in the history of our Club! Your participation in, and hospitality during our side-trip to Staniel Cay made it a highlight of our stay in the Bahamas and we elected you our 'Go-to woman' for future Bahamas expeditions. Odyssey Aviation should be proud of you. We'll be back!!”
Odyssey Aviation Bahamas is a Bahamian owned, private operation with three locations that provide fuel and VIP handling services to private jet travelers. Odyssey Aviation in Nassau at the Lynden Pindling International Airport is a full service, 24-hour FBO (Fixed Base Operation). Due to the amount of traffic into Nassau compared to the rest of the Bahamas, this location boasts an executive terminal, a lounge for pilots, more than 20 acres of ramp space and Customs and Immigration clearance in the facility. The two new Odyssey locations in Georgetown, Exuma (the location Symonette manages) and Treasure Cay, Abaco are titled ‘satellite’ locations because they operate on a smaller scale. However, Exuma’s rapid success has led Odyssey to plan to build a smaller version of Odyssey Nassau’s executive terminal in the coming months.
Symonette and the whole Odyssey team bring vast experience to the visitor, all highly skilled and constantly educating themselves on the latest aviation industry safety and service standards and also learning about the unique and ever changing island dynamics to better inform its visitors. The Exumas are undoubtedly an extraordinary hideaway for private fliers including celebrities, high profile businessmen and yachtsmen.
“We are extremely proud of Deatra and honored that she was considered for such an esteemed award," said Steven Kelly, President of Odyssey Aviation Bahamas. "It takes a delicate balance of professionalism and personality to work with and understand the needs of our clientele. Deatra has set an excellent example for our team and for the Bahamian community.”
With seven U.S. partner locations, the Odyssey brand is world renowned for its superior service. What differentiates Odyssey Aviation is their dedication to each flight. Every arriving aircraft is welcomed by a professional representative that is devoted to that flight, accompanying each traveler through Bahamas Customs and Immigration to ensure a hassle-free experience. This year, Odyssey Aviation Nassau was rewarded #1 Best FBO in the Caribbean by Flight Plan FBO Pilot Choice Awards, and #1 Best FBO in the Bahamas by two leading Aviation publications, Aviation International News and Professional Pilot Magazine. Symonette and Odyssey’s renowned professionals will only continue to benefit the growth and success of tourism to the Bahamas.
