AC-U-KWIK on Tour: American Aero FTW
/
Besides offering a view of the Meacham International Airport (KFTW) airfield, the all-glass lounge at American Aero FTW provides a glimpse into the technology built into the FBO’s new building, which opened in January 2017.
On our tour, general manager Riggs Brown explains that the electrochromic windows automatically tint to reduce heat and glare — a cool feature in the Texas climate. The natural light adds a warm comfort to the area. With the glare reduction, a laptop or tablet screen is easy to maneuver.
The passenger lounge also features a sound-masking wall dividing a large open lounge from a second private lounge to allow for a better customer experience for private meetings or for young children to have a space of their own. Fully equipped conference rooms are available and offer private access to a large meeting room.
Crew conveniences include a flight-planning room where we are thrilled to see AC-U-KWIK directories available for use. Our new ACUKWIK.com launched at the same time as the facility, yet the print books show signs of use, proving pilots need both.
The FBO provides crews a soundproof sleeping room, shower, theater with recliners and kitchen facilities that boast a super-clean, super-fast 90-second (not a typo) dishwasher allowing for quick-in and quick-out service.
An eye-catching floor-to-ceiling blue wall follows visitors from entry to field. Three new American Aero FTW hangars have more than doubled the FBO’s space. American Aero FTW has 11 acres of open ramp monitored 24/7 with U.S. Customs services on site and on the ramp.
On March 23, the facility hosted an NBAA regional event that boasted attendance of 1,700 with exhibitors in two of American Aero’s hangars and 27 aircraft in the static display. A day-long open house with tours of the facility gave attendees an opportunity to see the new American Aero home.
