ASK AC-U-KWIK: Why are AM radio stations listed in the AC-U-KWIK North American FBO Directory?
/Q: Most of the time I use the print version of the AC-U-KWIK North American FBO directory. I recently noticed the last item in the book is a list of “AM Radio Stations”. Why?
A: Yes, the AM radio station list is back and completely updated with the best of talk-radio, sports, gospel, country, oldies and many other genres. After removing the list a few years ago, it is back by popular demand. The frequencies received by the ADF in your airplane (if you actually still have one, that is) include AM radio stations. Not only can you home in on the transmitting tower of a town’s local AM station when using the ADF, you can also pass the lonely miles away listening to Merle Haggard or Sean Hannity. When was the last time your GPS did that?
