Business Aviation Safety Expert Robert Breiling Dies
/Business aviation safety analyst Robert Breiling died on Jan. 26 at age 88.
Through his firm Robert E. Breiling Associates Inc., Breiling provided reviews of jet, turboprop and helicopter accident data on a quarterly and annual basis.
Breiling was an active duty U.S. Navy pilot for eight years. Including time in the Navy Reserves, he served a total of 24 years before his retirement from the military.
Early in his professional career, Breiling worked in the insurance industry and began collecting business aviation safety data with the advent of business jets in the 1960s.
From 1973 until 1980, Breiling was a member of the NBAA Board of Directors. In 2012, he received the John P. “Jack” Doswell Award for lifetime achievement from NBAA.
The International Business Aviation Council acquired Breiling’s company in 2015 to sustain Breiling’s work analyzing business aviation risks and increasing safety.
